Footage released of man lighting car fire

Footage showing a man lighting a fire that destroyed 19 cars at an auto-repair business in Crestmead has been released.

Police believe the accused man injured himself while lighting the fire, with CCTV footage showing the man momentarily engulfed in flames.

On Sunday 29 October police and emergency crews were called to a Titanium Court business, believed to be a panel beaters, around 8.10pm after reports of a fire.

Crews extinguished the fire, which destroyed 19 privately-owned vehicles at the business.

“Investigators are concerned that a person sustained injuries as a result of the incident and left the scene,” police said.

“Anyone who recognises the man, or has any information about the incident, is urged to contact police.”
