Police are investigating after a vehicle was stolen from the Woodhill Rural Fire Station in Cedar Grove early morning on 28 October.
Initial investigations suggest around 1am, offenders gained entry to the station along the Mount Lindesay Highway and stole a Toyota Landcruiser.
The vehicle then rammed the station’s gate on the way out.
Police understand the vehicle had been driven by a Rural Fire Service Volunteer who had parked at the station while fighting fires in the South West District when the theft occurred.
South Eastern Region Assistant Commissioner Brian Swan has condemned the actions of the thieves.
“These are truly despicable actions,” AC Swan said.
“There wouldn’t be one person in the country who doesn’t know the fire threat facing parts of Queensland right now, and for thieves to actively target a fire station at this time is morally corrupt.
“Our officers will work around the clock to find the vehicle and those responsible and bring them to justice.”
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the grey Toyota Landcruiser with the Queensland registration ‘NOMADS’ to come forward.Investigations are continuing.
