Re: Tax funds on the decline by Bert Van Manen (MyCity Logan, July 25-31), I’m not really a letter-writing kind of person, but I hate it when people, especially politicians, lie with impunity.
Mr Van Manen alleges the new (Labor) Goverment abolished the LMITO, but even a cursory glance of Hansard shows: “The previous Coalition Government set up the LMITO to end on 30 June 2022 and legislated that outcome.”
The incoming Labor Government extended this for one year.
Mr Van Manen says the removal of the LMITO is because the federal Labor goverment overspent during Covid-19.
It was the Coalition who were the government during Covid.
