This great Newspaper is doing an excellent job putting the spotlight on “local heroes”.
Most recently ( 4-10Th July), you featured a front-page article on Megan Davis, who grew up in Eagleby and is now a constitutional lawyer and co-architect of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, inviting Australians to walk together towards equality for all by voting YES in the upcoming Referendum.
Megan Davis does herself, her city of Logan and her nation proud.
I was disappointed to read in the very same edition that our Federal Member Bert van Manen, unlike his close friend and well-informed colleague Julian Leeser, is not supporting The YES case.
He seems able to bypass his christian values to support “more of the same “ thus leading to further widening of the gap, particularly for rural and remote indigenous Australians.
Such a shame we can’t all walk together on this one.
Maybe more positive articles in this wonderful “local rag” will convince locals that “YES” is the only way to vote.
