Safer dog laws, safer community – Mick de Brenni

If you’re like us, you probably have a pet you consider to be one of the family.

Three years ago, we welcomed our labradoodle, Roxy, to our family, and we couldn’t be happier.

All of our dogs, from our dachshund, to our ridgeback- cross-shepherd, have brought immense joy into our home.

Pets are often an integral part of our daily lives, which is why our Government has made it easier to own a pet in a rental property, and it’s also why we’re looking at new, contemporary laws around dog ownership.

It was late last year, when our community was shocked, and now still grieve, following the tragic loss of energy worker Kane Minion, who was attacked whilst at work at Greenbank.

This and other incidents have prompted a thorough review to ensure our community is safe.

Around 50% of us in Logan are dog owners and on the whole very responsible, however unfortunately a small proportion of dogs are raised in a way that makes them too aggressive.

Because the Palaszczuk Government takes community safety seriously, we’re inviting the Logan community to have your say on new proposals to help prevent dog attacks.

Your feedback on proposed changes is vital to help ensure dangerous dogs aren’t a risk in our community, and we get the balance right.

By engaging with dog owners, experts, and local authorities we can work towards creating a safer environment for locals and dogs alike.
