A Logan City Tenpin bowler has won bronze while representing Australia at an international competition, despite the challenges of having to coach herself.
20-year-old Hannah Clark last week competed in the 21st Asian Youth Championships in Bangkok.
She competed against other under-21-year-olds in the single females division, and placed third.
She also played in the masters competition and placed 13, which her mum, Leonie, said was incredible.
“She fought her way and placed 13th,” Ms Clark said.
“But this year’s been a bit different because she doesn’t have a coach.
“So she’s been coaching herself.”
Ms Clark said her daughter had been working hard ahead of the competition, and had to balance a busy bowling schedule with work.
“She doesn’t have a lot of time,” Ms Clarke said.
She said her Hannah was tired after the competition, and “excited to be coming home”.
“She’s glad to be coming home,” she said.
“She’s enjoyed herself immensely being over there – it’s been a great experience.”
Hannah, who started bowling when she was “very little”, is no stranger to international competition, having represented the country previously at a competition in Sweden.
“Covid changed a lot of things, so she was hoping she’d get to [compete internationally] again,” Ms Clarke said.
Hannah’s next international competition is the 23rd STORM U22 International Junior All-Stars Bowling Championship 2023 in Malaysia.
