From the city of Logan in Utah, USA to the village of Logan in Scotland, to our home of Logan here in Queensland, right across the world, post-Covid inflation is hitting hard at the petrol pump and in the supermarket aisles.
The Palaszczuk Government has responded by delivering new record household relief to help residents of Logan with cost-of-living pressures.
A major intervention to tackle global cost of living pressures has been delivered with the largest household relief package anywhere in the nation.
The Palaszczuk Government State Budget, released on 13 June, responds to national health and housing pressures with record investment into new ideas and fresh approaches.
Here’s just a few of the ways were tackling cost of living:
- $550 cost of living rebate for all Queensland households
- $1072 cost of living rebate for eligible Queensland concession card holders
- $4600 worth of free Kindy
- Up to $6000 support if you choose to switch to an electric vehicle.
- Up to $317 per student for textbooks and learning resources
All Queensland households will automatically receive the $550 cost of living rebate through your electricity bill and, as a result, will have the lowest effective power bills in the national electricity market.
To receive the big top up for seniors and concession card holders, just make sure to update your details with your energy retailer.
The support is only possible because Queenslanders kept energy assets in public hands, where they should be and for the Palaszczuk Government decision to impose progressive coal royalties.
Progressive coal royalties are not universally supported with the Queensland Opposition set to remove them if elected, which means there would be no cost-of-living relief, cancelled infrastructure programs, cuts to services and a higher debt burden.
Instead, the Palaszczuk Government will keep progressive coal royalties to continue investment in the M1 explanation and Busway extension.
These projects are part of the Big Build and will get you home sooner and safer, and support hundreds of local jobs during construction.
The same progressive royalties will make sure emergency medical care is there for you and your family, by building a bigger Redland and Logan Hospital, a new Springwood Ambulance Station so we can make way for the M1 and Busway and open the Mount Cotton Road Fire Station.
The Palaszczuk Government is committed to providing relief through bill rebates, making sure you and your family have the first-class services you deserve and a strong pipeline of jobs, so that the lifestyle, family budgets of everyone in Logan are protected.
