Fentiman hits stride in health wins for Logan

Ambulance stations in Beenleigh and Sprngwood are set to benefit from state budget money.

That includes $300,000 towards the replacement of Beenleigh Ambulance Station and $1.5 million towards the redevelopment of Springwood Ambulance Station.

The total budget for the Springwood station sits at around $8.1 million.

Construction is anticipated to begin in the first half of 2024 and conclude in the first half of 2025.

Although the existing station is due for an upgrade, its relocation might have been prompted by something else.

The land it sits on is being resumed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads for the upgrade of the Pacific Motorway, which is expected to occur in the first half of 2025 (subject to change as the M1 project progresses).

The new station will be built on the same street as the current one, with the Queensland Ambulance Service purchasing adjoining sites.

Waterford MP and new health minister Shannon Fentiman said: “Initiatives that can keep people out of hospital are important, which is why we are devoting efforts into strengthening diversion programs, expanding virtual hospital models of care, and initiatives like satellite hospitals and rapid access clinics.”

$143.6 million will also be going towards the expansion of Logan Hospital which has been previously announced.
