A local couple are selling their home of 30 years and moving away from the city they’ve lived in their entire lives.
Although they’re only moving to the northern end of the Gold Coast, for Christine Wieden and her husband Ted, they’re excited for the change.
Mr and Mrs Wieden lived in Slacks Creek for 20 years before building their home in Loganholme 29 years ago.
Now, Ms Wieden said they were “ready to move on”.
The sales process was protracted before the right buyer was found.
“We’re ready to move on and we’re happy that a family is moving into the house,” Ms Wieden said.
“It’s a big house and there’s only two of us now, so we’re very happy that a family will get to enjoy their home.”
From the outside, the Loganholme property looks pretty standard, but it occupies a large block.
“We’ve got a very big pool… and we’ve got the big shed and we’ve got greenhouses and other sheds attached to the greenhouses, like my potting shed,” Ns Wieden said.
“We’ve had everything from weddings there to massive parties.
“We’ve had some very happy times – it’s been a really, really happy home.”
Sitting on a 2504 square-metre block, the four-bedroom house was once home to the Wiedens’ three daughters as well.
Now, their children are grown up and have moved out, the empty nesters are looking forward to moving somewhere where “someone else cleans the pool.”
Construction of their new home, at a lifestyle resort in Pimpama, has just finished.
Ms Wieden said the construction process was full of drama.
“Finally, our home – with all the building problems and hold ups and everything – is finally finished,” she said.
The agent who sold their Loganholme property, Mark Coleman from RE/MAX Revolution, said it was a very popular house.
“The big blocks are always popular,” Mr Coleman said.
“It took a little bit longer to sell because we needed to find the right match for that sort of property.
“This particular home is in very good condition – it’s definitely one of the nicer looking homes.”
The house has been marketed as the perfect family home, with a master ensuite and ‘his’ and ‘her’ wardrobes.
Outside, there’s a large, covered entertainment-area, a patio and porch, a pool, a two-bay shed, gazebo, two greenhouses and two garden-sheds.
But even with all these features, there’s plenty of land left-over.
Ms Wieden said the maintenance of the yard was becoming too much for her and her husband.
The house is currently under contract, and Mr and Mrs Wieden will be moving into their new home early next month.
