TODAY defines much of who we are as Australians – battlers, and damn good at it; larrikans, in all types of situation; and proud, of who we are, and who helped keep our country safe.
Many of us will today, on ANZAC Day, remember our ancestors who fell, and contributed to the history that stands behind us.
And while much of today is about memory and reflection, it is an opportunity for us all to think about who we want to be.
Over 200 years, there’s no denying that our beliefs might have changed, and the demographics of our regions – in particular Logan – have moved significantly.
We have become culturally diverse, and while not all Australians will have an immediate affiliation with the Anzac spirit, we can be sure all Australians will know what it’s like to defend a land we call home.
Some will say the good old days are behind us, others will say they’re ahead of us.
While either might be true, all of us on this day can be grateful for what we have, the freedoms we share, and the lifestyle we are so priveleged to own.
And we can be thankful to those who had the vision to see that those things were worth fighting for, in many cases to the point of ultimate sacrifice. To all those who have served, we thank you.
To all who have served, we thank you
