Credit for rail victory shouldn’t sit with mayor

I refer to your recent article “Rail won’t go through Logan” and acknowledge Cr Power’s contribution to the fight, however I feel it needs to be pointed out that the fight has gone on a lot longer than the three years that the mayor and the councillors in your image have been in office.

In fact, local residents Suz and Stan Corbett started back in 2015 on this long road, writing hundreds of letters to local, State and Federal politicians, getting a reply sometimes but often not even a courtesy of an acknowledgement.

Suz and Stan reached out to Mr Power both as a candidate and mayor and provided the information about how inland rail would affect thousands of Logan and Brisbane residents.

Ignored by State Members, whose electorates would be impacted, Stan and Suz fought tooth and nail for Logan, and I for one believe they should be acknowledged by the Mayor with a City of Logan Award of some kind.

Now that Inland Rail won’t be using the corridor, it is time that the State Government got on and built the Salisbury to Beaudesert Rail link which I have been fighting for since 2006.

It’s Time for The Rail Line.
