The infrastructure legacy of the previous coalition government continues to benefit us all in Logan.
Over the Coalition’s nine years in government, almost $40 billion in funding was committed to infrastructure projects across Queensland.
I was proud to have secured funding on a number of projects across the Forde electorate, from this substantial investment in local infrastructure.
Last month, practical completion was reached on one of these legacy projects in our Logan West community – the Mount Lindesay Highway upgrade from Stoney Camp Road to Chambers Flat Road.
As part of the $75 million upgrade, which was jointly funded by the previous coalition government and current state government, the project has doubled the available lanes along this stretch of highway to four, from the previous two.
The finishing touches are now being put in place on these lanes, with all four expected to be open to traffic in the next few weeks.
Once fully opened, the increased capacity will significantly cut travel times for motorists and greatly improve traffic flow.
Safety enhancements have also been made, such as the installation of safety barriers, and a greater emphasis has been placed on conserving the surrounding environment, with improved fauna connectivity and protection.
This is in addition to the new northbound and southbound bridges at Norris Creek in Munruben, which was officially opened last year.
These improvements are vital for Logan residents travelling through the area and follow the $20 million upgrade to the Mount Lindesay Highway at North Maclean – which included $16 million from the coalition government – that was completed in December 2019.
Thank you to all local residents and motorists for your patience while works were carried out, and to all the contractors involved in delivering this important project.
Crucial investments in local infrastructure are a vital contributor to economic growth in local communities.
The infrastructure legacy of the coalition government will be a key driver of growth throughout Logan and Queensland for years to come.
