Y-CARE, part of the YMCA organisation, is set to manage two buildings of the Yarrabilba community’s new community space.
The Buzz was yesterday (Monday) officially opened and is designed to help the community to further connect.
The project was a local and state government-funded enterprise, working with Brisbane Catholic Education.
One of three pods will be operated by Tafe, while Y-Care’s successful tender was announced at the opening.
Local councillor Laurie Koranski said The Buzz would offer the fast-growing Yarrabilba community a space where they could learn, earn, connect and innovate as well as gain access to improved education and employment opportunities.
“The new facility is the result of a wide-reaching collaboration to bring forward this much-needed district community centre,” she said.
“Council has worked proactively with the project partners to deliver this vital project and has led the construction and leasing phases.”
Construction started in October last year with three separate buildings, known as pods, making up the 6000 sqm precinct.
The facility, located between Yarrabilba State Secondary College and San Damiano College on Yarrabilba Dr, also features a dedicated youth space.
Programs and services from all tenants at The Buzz will be available soon.
