The Springwood off-ramp at Fitzgerald Avenue is to be permanently closed from Friday night, 8pm.
The closer is to make way a conversion of Exit 20 on the M1 to become a dedicated busway.
Instead, cars will have to use either Exit 19 at Rochedale Road, or Exit 22 at Watland St.
It’s all part of the $750 million Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill upgrade of the highway – spanning 8km.
The South East Busway will be extended to Springwood.
Motorists on the M1 are now able to use an extra southbound lane on Rochedale Road, after it was opened mid-September.
Springwood MP Mick de Brenni said the upgrades meant Springwood locals would have access to high-frequency public transport services, without needing to get on the M1.
“As we continue construction of this important extension we do need to make some changes to the off-ramp at Exit 20 (Fitzgerald Avenue),” Mr de Brenni said.
“Alternate access to local roads will be in place via Rochedale Road (Exit 19) and Watland Street (Exit 22).
“I can understand this will be a big change for drivers so I encourage you to get familiar with these alternate exits.
“We’re making progress on this major upgrade each and every day to the benefit of all the communities south of Brisbane.”
