Thank you, from the bottom of my art

The City of Logan’s vibrant creative arts community is thriving.

In many ways it’s one of the hidden gems of our city – unless of course you’re one of the many hundreds of creatives who draw inspiration from our unique identity.

We are blessed to have so many talented people adding colour and texture to our social fabric. It’s like a giant community patchwork quilt – multi-layered pieces all coming together.

An entertaining  mix of arts, cultural and heritage activities have been delivered over the past year across the city.

Highlights include, Boost professional development sessions for Logan Live musicians, First 5 Forever and the Deadly Digital Indigenous voices: Our Words, Our Stories.

Then there’s the Logan Entertainment Centre refurbishment, Eats & Beats, grants to the community for creative projects and public art and park enhancement projects.

Council wants to ensure these industries and activities meet the needs and expectations of local residents and visitors to the region.

The Kingston Butter Factory (KBF) cultural precinct will be a game-changer for the city as a hub for arts, culture and heritage.

We are looking forward to opening KBF next year to further enrich Logan’s creative arts and heritage sector.

Creative industries provide places and spaces for imagination, reflection and innovation, where stories are told and ideas are shared.

One of these spaces is the award-winning Logan Art Gallery. Last month the gallery received a Highly Commended award at the Museums and Galleries National Awards for ‘Our Words, Our Stories’.

This kind of recognition helps to put the City of Logan on the artistic map.

This is set to continue as we tap into the wealth of knowledge and artistry bubbling away that makes our city such a great place to live and create.
