New state high school for Yarrabilba progresses

Tenders will soon be called for the next development phase of Yarrabilba State Secondary College.

Stage 2 will provide senior learning spaces, a senior applied technology centre, art and design centre and performing arts, music and multi-media centre.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the investment aimed to provide world-class facilities.

A total of $200 million will be spread across seven new schools in Queensland.

“We know that COVID-19 has had a big impact on the global economy,” Education Minister Grace Grace said.

“So, by continuing the pipeline of work on school infrastructure we are helping to support construction jobs now and into the future.

“Tenders will be called shortly and contractors for these projects are expected to be announced later this year, with construction to start in 2020 or 2021 and finish during 2022.”
