A driver luckily escaped serious injuries after she collided with a feral deer on a major Logan road recentlly.
Police were called to Logan Reserve Road near School Street on Sunday, October 23 at around 7.30pm following reports of the crash which happened about 20 minutes earlier.
Investigations show the car struck a small deer before flipping.
“Shout out to the lovely people who stopped to check on me after I hit a Deer,” the driver, Nancy Reilly wrote in a Facebook Post following the crash.
“Also to the two truck drivers. I walked away uninjured, the deer and my car didn’t.”
Feral deer have since been spotted grazing in the vicinity of Schmidt’s Road and Loganview Road.
This comes after the Queensland Feral Deer Management Strategy 2022-27 was released on this week in consultation with key stakeholders.
The strategy states feral deer herds are increasing in number and distribution in Queensland and recognises a need for management of the species by local councils and landholders.
The five-year plan aligns with the Biosecurity Act 2014 and keeps pace with modern welfare requirements.
