A man has allegedly put a police officer in hospital after an assault at the scene of an accident.
The same man then allegedly kicked the door of a police car.
The man, 29, from Alexandra Hills, was charged in relation to the incident on Logan Motorway at Kingston.
Police said a two-car crash happened on the motorway at around 8pm Monday night.
They will allege that a white 2007 Toyota Hilux was driving dangerously at speed westbound on the Logan Motorway, when it collided with the rear of a black 2011 Holden Cruze.
The impact caused the Holden to crash into a right-side guard-rail, then ricochet across both lanes into the left-side barricade.
Both vehicles came to a halt, blocking both westbound lanes of the Logan Motorway.
The alleged driver of the Toyota – a 29-year-old Alexandra Hills man – was arrested after he allegedly assaulted an attending officer, before kicking and damaging the door to a police car.
His passenger – a 26-year-old Alexandra Hills man – along with the driver of the Holden – a 69-year-old Hope Island man – were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer was also treated at hospital before being released.
The 29-year-old man was charged with serious assault police and wilful damage of police property.
Police are calling on anyone who witnessed the incident, or has relevant dash-camera footage, to come forward.
Police would also like to speak with anyone who witnessed the white Toyota Hilux travelling westbound along the Logan Motorway prior to the crash.
Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
