A NEW public housing development on the corner of Cinderella Drive and Lenore Crescent at Springwood will have 35 apartments designed to care for our ageing population.
The development would be built to Liveable Housing Design guidelines at either gold or platinum level, able to accommodate residents who over time may develop significant mobility challenges.
Springwood MP Mick de Brenni said Springwood seniors uphold our traditions and history.
“Enabling our loved ones to remain close by as they downsize, or their needs change is vital,” he said.
“The … continued investment in accessible housing construction provides seniors with a safe, secure place to live as well as an income for thousands of Queensland tradies, like the team from quality building contractor Bryant.”
Mr de Brenni said the new complex was significant given the statewide housing market pressures.
“The Queensland Housing and Homelessness Action Plan 2021-2025 will deliver an accelerated social housing supply of 7400 homes over four years, of which 178 will be commenced in the Logan area through a planned investment of $46.7 million over the next four years,” he said.
Bryant Building Contractors site manager Rhett Carter said the firm was also delivering NDIS housing in Cinderella Drive, helping drive the renewal of the Springwood CBD.
“These units include features such as wider doorways and halls, making them hugely beneficial for people who mobilise in wheelchairs, which is perfect for older people, whilst being easy to build,” Mr Carter said.
“We’ve built for government and similar clients for many years and a hallmark of our projects has been respect for the local community and an exceptional finish, and we expect this project to be no different.”
