Record services for our communities

Proudly, the state government is again delivering a record services budget for Queenslanders and communities like Logan.

Be it health or education, police or fire and emergency, this budget puts more into our frontline and the systems that support our people.

We’re investing $23.6 billion into healthcare statewide to increase staffing, build more infrastructure and improve delivery, with a greater focus on mental health support.

And $3 billion of that will reach Metro South Hospital and Health Services this financial year, to take care of our city and keep our major hospital expansion moving forward.

Roughly a third of the more than $500 million I announced as Health Minister towards growing Logan Hospital is earmarked for 2022-23.

This will see over 200 additional inpatient beds arrive at Logan by the end of 2024, including more intensive care beds.

As part of our $9.785 billion Capacity Expansion Program announced this year, a further $530 million has also been allocated to the second stage of Logan Hospital’s expansion, providing a further 112 new beds.

This year’s budget is a healthcare budget, and our massive investments into the health system put the spotlight squarely on that.

Education in Queensland will be boosted by $16.5 billion, including $1.9 billion for school infrastructure.

Almost 10 per cent of that infrastructure investment will be spent on Logan schools, including new buildings at Woodridge State High School, Kingston State School and Marsden State School, among others.

Meanwhile, $2.9 billion will go towards policing in Queensland, and a combined $12 million will see fire and rescue stations built at Loganlea and along Mount Cotton Road.

This is a budget that cares, educates and protects.
