A NEW Labor government has promised to partner with Logan City Council to build a youth centre in Logan Central.
They’ve promised an urgent care medical centre, promised to revisit the inland rail alignment so it doesn’t disrupt as many homes.
And they’ve promised to establish a skills laboratory at the TAFE Loganlea Campus.
There will be extra money available for CCTV cameras throughout the city.
Both parties were careful not to over-promise, but these are things they felt were critically important to our region, along with some road projects which are budgeted for and must continue.
After Labor’s landslide victory on Saturday night, new prime minister Anthony Albanese took little time to put his team to work, including Rankin MP Jim Chalmers who has become caretaker of the nation’s purse strings.
It is our job as a community to ensure the government now delivers on its promises.
As a newspaper which prides itself on the production of public interest journalism, we are delighted that the government has promised funds which will help tackle the fast-rising cost of paper.
We hope all promises are kept and that the new government moves forward on plans to make Logan even better.
