I live in a quiet neighbourhood around Marsden and I generally keep to myself, which I’m happy about.
But my poor little car is struggling to cope with the potholes that are being left by all this rain.
I dodged one the other day that would have stopped my car in its tracks had it fallen in. The hole was deeper than the car’s tyres.
I understand that council workers are stretched to the bone at the moment. I see them working hard to keep our parks nice by mowing the lawns and keeping the grass under control. This is important for the young families in our neighbourhood who need an outlet for exercise.
I just wonder how the council prioritises which potholes are fixed first. Is it a first-in, first-served system, based on who lodges a complaint with the service desk?
Or is it the squeakiest wheel who gets the most attention? I hope not.
The staff are very friendly, and were helpful when I called to tell them about our dangerous hole in the road. But the problem still exists, and I wonder when they’ll get to it.
I want to thank the council staff for everything they do. With more rain coming, I really don’t know how they are keeping up.
Name withheld,
Marsden.
