Floodwater again leaves low-lying areas a mess

ROADS have again been cut, events cancelled, and a city left frustrated by relentless rain.

Weather bureau forecasts showed a relatively sunny day for Monday, but further showers predicted throughout the week.

Heavy falls were not likely, Bureau of Meteorology predictions said.

And while floodwaters are not expected to rise, it leaves the city again cleaning up its parks, recreational areas and some properties in low-lying areas along the Logan and Albert River basins.

Just weeks after the city was hit with one of the worst floods in 50 years, Maclean Bridge exceeded the minor flood level of 10m to reach more than 11.6m on Sunday.

Parklands was again hit with moderate flooding with waters peaking at 4m.

Waterford also saw minor flooding at just over 6.5m.

Water levels were a long way off what the city saw in late February and early March, but no less frustrating for those who are ever two months having to pack up their homes and businesses.

Disaster operations assistance has been made available to help cover costs of the immediate clean-up efforts.

This comes under the joint state-federal disaster funding arrangements.
