This is the first time I’ve written a letter to the editor, it’s something I have never thought of doing before.
Why now?
Well, your paper is different, in a good way, and I thought that needed to be said, not just in my ancient mind but for all your readers to know about.
Your coverage of matters of interest to Logan residents is outstanding, looking after all the bases.
Take for instance your latest edition.
Training dogs not to harass koalas, as related by an academic on page 3, seemed a bit over the top because surely a decent lead on the dog’s collar and a good grip on the part of the person in charge of the canine would be an obvious solution.
As would ensuring that the dog in question was confined at night, which is when koalas relocate from tree to tree along the ground.
Then there were a couple of articles on forthcoming new medical facilities, which are of particular interest to me as the years advance.
One article which was of particular interested to me focussed on the new poo factory and I thought the timing could not have been better given the large volumes of excreta being directed at us just now by our beloved pollies.
The 12-page section in the middle of the paper, entitled Truth, was not, it seemed to me, particularly Logan oriented but was interesting nonetheless, taking a look at what seemed to be a cornucopia of legal problems of various types.
That stuff was food for thought and I found the divergence from Logan-specific subjects made interesting reading.
Your columnist Whiney Wayne, as always, delighted with his take on matters of interest and his allusion to things political was very entertaining.
Please keep up the good work and never sink to the level of this region’s bloody awful local rag which was produced by the Dirty Digger, aka Rupert Murdoch, before it, like many of its ilk around the country, became uneconomical.
SIGNOFF.
