$3 million backs Armstrong Road walking and cycling improvements

A $3 million state grant will fund walking and cycling improvements along Armstrong Road at Loganlea.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads’ 2026–27 Active Transport Grants Program lists design and construction work between Loganlea Road and Evans Road, to be delivered by Logan City Council.

Acting Transport and Main Roads Minister Tim Mander said the statewide program would improve safety, strengthen local connections and help more Queenslanders access schools, community facilities, public transport and local businesses.

Armstrong Road is one of 10 Queensland projects funded in the latest round.

Under the program, councils such as Logan are expected to match the state’s contribution.

Mr Mander said councils were best placed to identify improvements needed in their communities.

“Local governments know their communities best and can identify where new walking and bike riding infrastructure will make the greatest difference,” he said.

The Armstrong Road funding comes as councils are being invited to apply for another $15 million statewide through the 2027–28 grants round.

Applications opened on 28 September and close on 30 November, with successful projects expected to be announced in 2027.

The later funding round is separate from the $3 million already allocated to Armstrong Road.
