160 new trips added to Logan bus network

More than 160 new trips will be added to the Logan City bus network next Monday (30 June).

The additional trips are set to increase dependability and connectivity for locals, according to Translink, all while minimising traffic on roads.

The changes, which align with the launch of Brisbane Metro M1 service, include new timetables and transfers, and changes to routes and route numbers.

Translink says the community was consulted about the proposed changes in July
and August 2024, with over 500 pieces of feedback received in person and
through the online survey to help shape the changes.

The key updates include Route 566 being merged into Route 565 with an extra 50 weekly trips, Route 571 being merged into Route 570 with an extra 45 weekly trips, and an extra 65 weekly trips on Route 569 between Loganholme and Brisbane City.

Some Logan and Redlands services will also have minor changes to where they stop in Brisbane CBD.

Some Brisbane City bus stops will be standardised for buses travelling to similar destinations, freeing up bus routes and taking advantage of the additional capacity offered by the new Brisbane Metro M1 services.

These route changes will also create better connections to Griffith University, making public transport more accessible for university students.

Changes to the bus network will allow more services to use the new busway extension from Eight Mile Plains to Rochedale, helping to reduce road congestion.

Head of Translink Dr Deborah Hume said it was an exciting outcome for bus users, with more frequent and reliable services, and better connections.

“As communities outside of Brisbane City continue to grow, it is important that we continue to increase public transport connections in these areas,” she said

“We are proud to be delivering improvements that will reinforce why public transport is the most convenient way to travel.

“Customers will need to plan ahead by using Translink’s journey planner or by giving us a call on 13 12 30.”
