THIRTEEN people have been charged with more than 40 drug and firearm related offences as part of an ongoing investigation into the trafficking of dangerous and prescription drugs into correctional centres and firearms offences within the Logan District.
The investigation called on multiple police units for help.
The arrests followed search warrants across Logan, Brisbane, Redland Bay, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast last Friday.
During the searches, quantities of methylamphetamine, MDMA, GHB, cannabis, buprenorphine, cash and six firearms were located and seized.
South East Region MOCS (Logan) Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Adam Baillie said the charges reflect a high level of co-operation between the QPS and Queensland Corrective Services to disrupt criminal networks supplying dangerous and prescription drugs into Queensland Correctional Centres.
“Drugs and firearms have a devastating effect on our society, and we will continue to utilise every available resource to target those involved in these offences,” acting detective senior sergeant Baillie said.
“I encourage anyone with information relating to persons involved in these offences to contact Crime Stoppers.”
Those arrested include a 25-year old Marsden woman, charged with trafficking dangerous drugs into a correctional facility. She will appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 8.
A 34-year old Waterford woman was charged with supplying dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of firearms. She is expected to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 4.
A 24-year old Boronia Heights man was charged with possession of shortened firearms, unlawful possession of weapons and possessing dangerous drugs. He is expected to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 2.
