Sunday, 23 November marked the beginning of Disability Action Week, an annual week that celebrates inclusion, raises awareness of disability issues and recognises contributions from people with disabilities.
The International Day of People with Disability will be held a week later on Wednesday, 3 December and prioritise similar goals, like raising awareness of disability.
This year’s Disability Action Week, which will run until Sunday, 30 November, theme ‘Communicate. Connect. Create.’ Here are just some of the events you can join this week, which celebrate inclusion, accessibility and acceptance:
Monday 24
KoaHanii Disability and Mental Health Services
Free NDIS consultations available for the whole week at ‘All Our Hands’, at 8/1-5 Wharf Street, Logan Village. Open to all members of the community from 9am to 5pm daily.
Low-impact fitness
Increase strength and flexibility with a gentle circuit class instructed by a physiotherapist from 9.30am to 10.30am at Physio On Chatswood, 14 Chatswood Rd, Springwood.

Aqua adventure
Try out wakeboarding, kneeboarding or paddleboarding from 9.30am to 11am at Bayside Wake Park. This activity is recommended for confident swimmers. Make a booking by calling 07 3287 7777 or emailing cableski@bigpond.com.

Logan Dementia Choir – End of Year Christmas Concert

BEST Disability Support open day, from 10am to 2pm at 22 Arana Street, Slacks Creek. Attend information sessions, join in with basketball games, get a free haircut or enjoy the sausage sizzle.
