A 19-year-old Springwood man caught allegedly hiding in a bedroom cupboard after fleeing police has been arrested.
Police claim officers were conducting a domestic violence-related investigation on 18 October when they “located the alleged offender at an address in Springwood”.
“The offender fled the scene, evading immediate arrest,” police said in a statement.
The investigation continued over the following days, which led to a follow-up operation on 24 October.
“Police returned to the Springwood property and located the offender concealing himself in a bedroom cupboard,” police said.
He was arrested and charged with multiple serious offences, including three counts of contravening a domestic violence order (aggravated offences), unlawful escape from custody, and obstructing police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Darko Radovanovic, from the Logan Domestic, Family Violence and Vulnerable Person Unit, said police were dedicated to supporting victims of domestic violence and taking firm action against those who choose to disregard the law.
“This operation demonstrates our commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of the Logan community,” he said.
The 19-year-old Springwood man is due to reappear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 15 November.
