A tribute to the late Uncle Reg Knox has been installed at Logan Central Library.
Uncle Reg was a local artist who loved working with children and included their handprints in many of his projects as he explained to them the importance of unity.
One of his works now hangs in the Vatican.
Uncle Reg’s daughter Missy Knox said the tribute was to honour and remember his philosophy and legacy.
“We are all here together and must move forward together as one,” he’d tell the adults and children he taught, according to Ms Knox.
“He would spray their handprints in a design around a central piece of the murals we did together. As each child approached him and the mural, he would get down low to he eye level with them and place their hands on the wall,” she said
“As he spray painted their hands he would tell each and every child just how beautiful and special and unique they were. He might have said that you had beautiful eyes, or deadly smile or beautiful hands.
“He always looked for that unique something in everyone and compliment them on their uniqueness.”
Everybody who ever came into contact with him walked away feeling 10 foot tall. He had a lovely way of making every person feel special and unique and loved. May we never forget him or his special message to us all. Let his memory and legacy live on by emulating him and sharing his hope for a better future together and treating each other the way he treated us. With love and respect in words and deeds. Thank you to Logan library staff, Mic Noble and our beloved community for remembering my father. We shall miss him always xxxx
