Police beat at Logan Hospital to replace Loganlea’s

A police station inside the Logan Hospital opened today, a move the State Government says will improve response times and make policing more efficient across Loganlea, Meadowbrook and Waterford West.

Deputy Commissioner Regional Operations, John Tims, said the new location would focus on community engagement efforts, previously delivered by the Loganlea Police Beat, which has limited opening hours.

Four officers, including a sergeant in charge, will work from the Logan Hospital site.

Using marked police vehicles to patrol the area, respond to incidents and maintain a visible presence around the hospital and nearby neighbourhoods, the state government said.

By basing officers at the hospital, police can respond more quickly to call-outs and work closely with healthcare workers and emergency services.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the station placed officers “right where they are needed most”.

“This ensures our officers are supporting frontline health workers and protecting patients, staff and visitors,” Mr Purdie said.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls said co-locating police at the hospital added another layer of protection at one of the region’s busiest facilities.

“Our hospitals must be safe places for staff to work and for patients and families to receive care,” Mr Nicholls said.
