The reopening of the newly renovated Beenleigh Aquatic Centre has been delayed due to recent weather, with a new opening date yet to be confirmed.
The $24.7 million upgrade is being delivered through the SEQ Liveability Fund under the SEQ City Deal.
Logan City Council has contributed $15 million, with a combined $9.7 million coming from the Australian and Queensland governments.
Stage two of the redevelopment began in September 2024 and includes replacing the 60-year-old outdoor pool and surrounding buildings.
The project completes upgrades outlined in the Dauth Park Masterplan, endorsed by the council in 2018.
Based on feedback from almost 400 community members in 2022, the new outdoor facilities will feature a 50-metre heated pool, expanded children’s water play area, shaded seating, modern changerooms, multipurpose rooms and a kiosk.
Accessible features such as ramps and hoists have also been included, along with a new car park and a community stage facing Centenary Park.
While construction has affected access to some outdoor areas, the indoor pool has remained open for regular programs, including swimming lessons and aqua aerobics.
Anyone who registered to attend the reopening event will be contacted by email with updated details, the council said.
The council says further updates, including a revised opening date, will be shared via the Beenleigh Aquatic Centre website.
