NEW general manager of Club Beenleigh Kristy Carey is doing what she loves, working with groups to build stronger communities.
Ms Carey has experience in various roles at clubs and pubs and is pleased to be picking up a “thriving business”.
“We have a strong community brand that’s been built up over the last 11 years,” she said.
She takes over the role from former manager Perran Sonnex who was credited with helping take the club from near-closure to become the biggest in the immediate region.
The club supports the adjoining tennis courts, the AFL club and the local cricket club, among other charities and groups.
“If the club isn’t making money, these sporting organisations aren’t here, so it’s great purpose as a not-for-profit to be supporting the local groups,” she said.
“I’ve always wanted to get back into a community club where the more successful you are, the more you can give.”
Ms Carey cut her teeth in the club world at Greenbank RSL, before time at Gallopers Sports Club, Capalaba Sports Club and Star Hotels.
