New BYCC President off to a cracking start

The Beenleigh Yatala Chamber of Commerce has appointed business networking guru, Kerrie Saverin, as their newest President, and just she’s off to a cracking start.

Altitude Business Solutions Founder, Kerrie Saverin, is a guru when it comes to business, and this isn’t the first time she has been named President of the Chamber.

“I have been involved with the Chamber since 1993 when I was just 18 years old, so there is a huge soft spot in my heart for it and I’m so grateful and glad to be sitting back in this chair,” she said.

“The last time I was in this chair was December 2019 and then we went straight into covid and had to shut down.”

“As a community I think we are finally over covid and to step into this role again in 2026 with so many opportunities is just great.”

First on the agenda for Ms Saverin was to bring the Chamber’s infamous Prawn Day back to Logan.

“Previously this event has been held on the Gold Coast and now for 2026 we have finally brought it back to Logan and we are so excited,” she said.

“We have over 650 people looking to attend this event at the Distillery Road Markets and the funds from it will be put back into the local community, including community program Formally Ever After by Tanya Robinson and the City of Logan’s Charity Trust.”

Ms Saverin said her focus as Chamber President will be on the “power of connection”.

“During covid, I believe we lost the power of connection,” she said.

“To grow a business you need connection, you need to network and to be seen, and I want to encourage businesses to get back out there.”

Ms Saverin said the world of business has changed since covid.

“As a result of covid, we got comfortable in our pyjamas and now everything is done online,” she said.

“We spent 2 to 3 years at home and embraced working from home, and don’t get me wrong it was great for work-life-balance, but businesses are starting to realise we need to start coming back into the office to connect, to network and to socialise with our fellow workmates and customers.”

Ms Saverin said she wants to improve the Chambers’ advocacy in terms of supporting local business.

“As a chamber we had to doggy paddle for so long to survive and in that process, we dropped the ball in terms of advocacy,” she said.

“We have three levels of government to drawn upon and eleven board members who are extremely passionate about business and helping local business, so if you need help or business advice, we are here to help you and that’s what I want to get across to our community.”

“I want to make sure we are doing all we can for business owners in Logan.”
