AFTER owning a barbecue restaurant in Korea and working in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast for 13 years, Springwood chef Jung Kyu Lee is bringing his skills to his own neighbourhood.
“I have lived in Springwood for the previous two years,” Mr Lee said.
“When I saw the redevelopment happening at Springwood Mall, I grabbed the opportunity to open a café and introduce everyone to my style of Korean food.
“We have been warmly welcomed by local diners … and we are looking forward to serving many people our delicious Korean food, beer and cocktails in our new cafe.”
But it’s not just the food he wants people to try.
Mr Lee has named his Korean Cafe “Mogom” Korean Kitchen, which in his mother tongue means to eat a lot, but to also “take a sip”.
“I love sharing our traditional Korean soul food and culture and introducing our diners to makgeolri (Korean rice wine) and some fusion dishes I have created after living in Australia for over a decade.”
Mr Lee said his favourites were topokki, bibimbap, Korean-style barbecue sizzling plates and gukbap.
Mogom, positioned in Eats at Springwood Mall, features a brightly-lit bar, where soju (Korean whisky) cocktails are busily made for diners as they enjoy a great range of authentic and fusion Korean menu options.
Open from 11am to 9pm from Monday to Saturday, Mogom serves lunch and dinner.
