Last year, a group of 12 locals regularly attended Jimboomba dance studio, The Jungle, now called the Wilde Women Movement, confidence coach and studio founder Phoenix Taylor said.
Participant numbers have since quadrupled.
“I’ve now got 60 plus Wilde Women, when originally we started with 12,” Ms Taylor said.
“We’ve become one of the fastest growing studios, which is quite cool.”
The studio has expanded its class timetable, held sold-out concerts, moved studios, and incorporated overseas retreats, the first of which will be held in Sri Lanka in March.
“It’ll be full of dance and wellness, which is what we do in the Wilde Women Movement,” Ms Taylor said.
“But we’ll also be able to see the country and culture.
“We’re off to see elephants at the Elephant Freedom Project, climb mountains in Kandy, and all sorts of really cool things.”
Ms Taylor said she hoped the retreats would eventually be held four times per year
“I’m a huge advocate for just living your life and living it to the max and living unapologetically.
“I’m trying to get these women to break through any fear and to live boldly in who they are.”
Ms Phoenix said the next Wilde Women Movement’s retreat will be held in the Philippines in January 2027.
Ms Taylor said the studio and movement’s teachings were about more than only dance moves and technique.
“I teach self-love and confidence through the art of dance,” she said.
“Yes, it is dance classes, but we weave through healing practices, spirituality work, and all sorts of different things.
“There’s a class for everybody.”
The studio holds classes for teenagers, women over 55, and everyone in between. And encourages people with all levels of dance training to attend classes, even beginners.
“We’ve got nine classes at the moment on the timetable, spread across Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,” Ms Taylor said.
In March last year, the studio relocated to Ms Taylor’s private property, “which is a lush acreage property in Tamborine.”
It’s brought us all close together,” she said. “My property is called the Sacred Grounds of Wild, and it’s a beautiful property; everybody feels at home there.”
Ms Taylor said the studio offered free trials to anyone who’d like to attend. For more information, visit the Wilde Women Movement Facebook page.
