Man in critical condition after police shooting in Logan Central carpark

A man, 27, was shot by police in Logan Central over the weekend.

He was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition, emergency services said.

Logan District Detective Acting Inspector Jason Kitto told the media that police were called to a car park on Ewing Road at about 5.54pm on Saturday, 21 March, after reports of a man, allegedly armed with a knife, damaging cars and making threats.

Mr Kitto said police attempted to engage with the man, who was allegedly standing on top of a car when officers arrived. The man then allegedly approached officers who shot him.

Mr Kitto said the officers immediately applied first aid to the man until Queensland Ambulance Services arrived on the scene.

The man remains in a stable but critical condition under police guard in the Princess Alexander Hospital.

Mr Kitto said the man was known to police.

No police officers or members of the public were injured during the incident, Mr Kitto said.

The matter is now being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command and the Crime and Corruption Commission.
