Logan Lightning are seeking to prove themselves as their new recruits pave the road to success.
Following a two week winning streak, Logan Lightning’s QPLC men’s team finished round three with a draw against Albany Creek.
Logan welcomed 15 new players to the men’s side during the off season with both interstate and international recruits.
Head coach James Coutts is says he is thrilled with the performance of his team, but he knows where they need improvement.
“We know we need to be more clinical in the final third,” he said.
“Like with any new side it takes time to gel on the pitch however we feel this is happening each week and hopefully we continue to improve.”
Logan’s QPLC women’s team have their first game of the season this Sunday 19 March, and they recruited more than just new faces.
The team has brought back Lightning veterans Phoebi Clissold and April Gleeson.
Anticipating a season of milestones, the women’s squad promoted 17-year-olds Amity Brezac and Olivia Driene as team regulars.
The skills of Amanda Lebelt from the USA have also been enlisted to drive the front line.
Round one will see the women fighting on foreign soil, but head coach Scott Prickett is excited for his team to “face the opposition’s atmosphere.”
“Winning at home is always a must but winning away means heaps as well,” Mr Prickett said.
“The girls are ready to go, the preseason has prepared them well and I feel they are ready to get out there and show what they are up for.”
Mr Pricket asks all fans to head to Albert Bishop Park on Sunday to support Logan against Virginia United.
“We need the support of the club’s members to help with the success we would like to have in 2023,” he said.
