The tender for the $530 million stage two expansion of Logan Hospital has been awarded to John Holland.
Stage two of the expansion, funded by the state government, will deliver an additonial 112 beds to the hospital.
This brings the government’s investment in Logan Hospital to over one billion dollars, with the stage one expansion costing $460 million (providing 206 extra beds) plus several other infrastructure projects.
Stage one is also being delivered by John Holland.
John Holland has been awarded the tender for Princess Alexandra Hospital, which is a $350 million project to add 249 beds.
John Holland executive general manager, David Lehmann, said he is proud to be a part of the expansion of two of Brisbane’s largest and relied-upon hospitals.
“We know how important modern health facilities are to local communities – and being involved in large-scale healthcare projects such as these put our purpose of transforming lives into practice,” he said.
Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Yvette D’Ath, said Queenslanders would have access to modern, world-class health care for decades to come
“We’re creating new facilities, thousands of hospital beds, thousands of construction jobs and thousands of health jobs,” she said.
“Today’s announcement is a real win for existing locals and the families who will eventually call the region home in the years to come.
“The 361 new beds being delivered as part of these two expansions are just some of the 3,378 additional beds being delivered across Queensland.”
These are the first two major expansion projects in the Queensland Health and Hospitals Plan.
The cornerstone of the Plan was a $9.78 billion infrastructure spend to build three new hospitals, expand 11 hospitals, and construct a Queensland Cancer Centre.
