The Hall Family Rodeo is all set for another spectacular rodeo event at the Beenleigh Show this Saturday, where they will host some of the best bull riders and barrel girls in the country.
Held at 6pm in the Beenleigh Showgrounds main arena, the rodeo will host two separate events: bull riding for the men with five different divisions and barrel racing on horses for the women.
Proprietor of Hall Family Rodeo and Chairman of the National Rodeo Association, Jason Hall said Beenleigh show day is set to be a jam-packed day.
“The Beenleigh Show is in its 146th year, it’s a fantastic venue and event and it just gets better every year,” he said.
“Typically shows go over a couple of days which can taper off a bit in the end and drag on, but the good thing with this show is that everything will be jam-packed into one amazing day.”
Mr Hall said the rodeo will be held alongside the freestyle motorcross.
“We will be doing our rodeo in conjunction with Aussie FMX freestyle motorcross, who are going to be doing a special show with L.E.D lights this year,” he said.
“With all the amazing entertainment, the food pavilion, the animals and the fireworks in the evening, it’s just going to be a spectacular event for everyone involved.”
Mr Hall was born into the sport of rodeo with his father Kerry Hall starting off as a successful competitor over 55 years ago, and soon after became the owner of the contracting business, Hall Rodeo.
A successful competitor himself, winning the average national finals in 1999 in bareback riding, Mr Hall took over the business after his father retired a few years ago.
Now, Mr Hall’s two youngest sons; Clay and Zane compete in the sport. Clay will be making an appearance at this year’s show.
Mr Hall said there’s a good sum of money up for grabs for competitors this year.
“For the bull riders we have upwards of $4,000 to $5,000 in prize money,” he said.
“For the barrel races, we have about $1,000 for the prize pool.”
Unlike the old days, Mr Hall says bull riding is “not just a country fun past time anymore, bull riders are proper professional athletes.”
“You will be amazed at the size and power of the bulls and the skills of the bull riders,” he said.
“And with the barrel races, you will be surprised at the girls and horses who work in unison and what they do is absolutely fantastic.”
“We are all very excited about this year’s show!”
