PROPERTY values in Logan are on the rise but our rapidly-growing city remains one of the most affordable places in Queensland to buy a home.
According to the latest Cotatily data shared by the Real Estate Institute of Queensland, the median sale price for a home in Logan is now $860,000, up more than 11% from $750,000 the same time last year.Â
The prices show the demand for homes in our city, as Logan delivers great value for first-time buyers, families or those seeking a tree change.
That $110,000 increase in the median sale price reflects the confidence buyers have in the city, our great lifestyle and convenient location. Â
Over the past five years, average house prices have more than doubled in value, up from a median of $403,000 in 2020.Â
Even with this growth, Logan remains a great option for those looking to enter the market with our median price still under the state average of $895,000.
Our community offers family homes with big backyards that are well below the prices of neighbouring cities.
In Brisbane, the median price of $1.27 million means home ownership is out of reach for many, while on the Gold Coast, it’s not far behind at $1.21 million.
The cost of housing is one of the biggest pressures on people’s cost of living, which is why attracting more affordable housing options to our city is so important. Â
Your council is working hard to meet the demand for more housing. In 2024, we brought on 48 new staff in our Development Assessment team to reduce delays in approving and building new homes.
Houses aren’t the only hot commodity. The value of units has also increased well above the average for the rest of Queensland.Â
The median sale price for a unit in Logan is now $544,000, up more than 19.5% from $450,000 in 2024. Those units were averaging $229,000 in 2020, showing great returns for all kinds of property investment in the city.
Your councillors and I are doing everything we can to support you in our growing city. That includes upgrading roads, maintaining great services, and building beautiful parks for our community.Â
