The Forde Seniors’ Expo has made a successful return after a two year COVID-enforced absence. The attendance figure for this fantastic community event was our best ever.
It was a fun day for all the attendees, with an array of informative guest speakers, entertainment by local singer Gracie Keleher, a robust question and answer session and special VIP guests.
Every one of the 600 showbags that my office had prepared was snapped up and all that remained of the 700 scones, with jam and cream, and the 800 sausages in bread, were a few crumbs.
Events such as these are important to share information across the wider seniors community with attendees able to question stall holders in person and receive valuable information first hand.
This year’s Expo featured 60 exhibitors, with representatives from the health sector, travel industry, financial advisers, legal services, residential homes, community groups and government agencies.
There are many companies and services, like these, which cater specifically for seniors, and the annual Forde Seniors’ Expo allows those organisations to reach their target audience directly.
The Seniors’ Expo cannot happen without a lot of support and hard work from many people. I would like to thank all of our sponsors and exhibitors for making the Expo such a success. I would also like to express my appreciation to all of the volunteers and my staff for organising the day and coordinating the exhibitors and events.
Finally, I would like to mention Canterbury College, especially Principal Daniel Walker, and the rest of the staff for allowing us to use their marvellous Events Centre to stage this year’s Expo.
To everyone who came, I hope you enjoyed the day and found it worthwhile; for those who missed out, we look forward to inviting you to the next Forde Seniors’ Expo.
