Embedded in rock, property stands test of time

Few properties in Cornubia have an ‘older’ build, a ‘new’ interior, and are also categorised as an exclusive lifestyle property, Remax estate agent Natalie Maggs has said.

But Roderick Street’s 148 is one of them.

The three-level home, on a 1000sqm block, has five bathrooms, four bathrooms, and three car spaces.

Views of the surrounding bushland and suburbs can be seen from the top floor balcony, which Ms Maggs said were stunning, particularly at sunset.

“The majority of the homes built on Roderick Street and up on the mountain in Cornubia have been built on a sloped block which is embedded in rock as well, and that’s a feature in itself,” she said.

“That’s why you’ve got those 360 views, they’re totally panoramic and they’re stunning.”

In the downstairs courtyard, a mural, hand-painted by local artist Cassandra Bennett, is a unique piece of home decor and is a “lifestyle element rarely seen,” Ms Maggs said.

“The privacy and seclusion are highlight features as well, because even though you’re in suburbia, you’re so secluded.”

A media room on the ground floor, which is also fitted with a bedroom and a bathroom, could serve as a retreat for teenagers, an area for entertaining guests, or for hosting extended family, Ms Maggs said.

The house was built in 1995, but has undergone extensive renovations since, Ms Maggs said.

“The bathrooms have been renovated, the outdoors have been repainted, and walls have been put in place.”

So far, the prevailing demographic at the property’s open home has been from local families looking to upsize from their current property. Ms Maggs said a few of the inquiries she had received were from interstate buyers.
