‘Born in a garage’: Logan’s best businesses of 2025 named

Information technology company TechPath, which was born in a local garage and now employs more than 50 staff, has been named Logan’s big business of 2025.

The Slacks Creek company took home one of two top awards, plus the best large business-to-business award, at this year’s Logan Business Distinction Awards.

About 400 people turned out to celebrate with the city’s best businesses at the Logan Entertainment Centre on 19 September.

Checkmate Pest Control, another family-run business, was the other top winner, scoring the coveted small business of the year award.

Logan Chamber of Commerce president Arwen McGregor said the awards had grown once again both in the amount and calibre of entries.

“Finalists and winners have been selected on the quality of their responses, not by a popular vote,” she said.

“Each business was required to complete a series of questions about their business, including topics about accessibility, environmental processes, innovations, business resilience, service in the community, risk management and future growth.

“Businesses were also asked why they chose Logan for their business.”

Ms McGregor said the winners understood what made their businesses tick, their future directions, and “how they will get there”.

“The category winners were the businesses that had the highest score across all their answers within their category.

“Major award finalists all scored above 90% with the winners coming very close to 99% from the judges.

“A few of our categories were very close in scoring, particularly in the not for profit category where a mere half a point was the difference between the top four organisations.

“This just shows how passionate and determined our not for profit sector is in Logan.”
