Bin collection services suspended

Logan residents are being advised of city-wide changes to their regular waste collection schedule, with bin pickups cancelled on Thursday and Friday this week due to safety concerns from Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Logan City Council has confirmed that while bins will be collected as usual on Wednesday, there will be no pickups on the following two days.

The strong winds expected from Cyclone Alfred could blow bins away and create debris, prompting the cancellation.

“Unfortunately, it will not be safe to collect bins over the weekend, meaning those missed on Thursday and Friday will not be collected at all this week,” Deputy Mayor Jon Raven said.

Collection will resume on the next scheduled collection date.

Those impacted can dispose of general waste, recycling, and green waste at Council’s waste and recycling facilities free of charge.
