Skilling Queenslanders for Work gives vulnerable members of our community the opportunity to get job ready, including those unemployed or disadvantaged.
The impact of this program is tangible. It changes lives. And it’s one of the most successful initiatives of its kind in the country.
Almost three-quarters of all participants go on to secure a job or take on additional training 12 months after completing their placement.
These results led our government to commit a further $320 million to the program in my most recent budget as state Treasurer, ensuring more good outcomes in 2022 and beyond.
There are a huge variety of learning options being unlocked through this investment.
For example, just in the electorate of Woodridge alone, we’re investing around $3.7 million through the latest round of SQ4W funding to offer construction roles with yourtown, cert I hospitality courses through Multilink, and other training opportunities in aged care, IT, hairdressing, horticulture and more.
Google ‘Skilling Queenslanders for Work for jobseekers’ and via the webpage you can search for projects nearest you. If you’re aged 15 years and over, no longer at school and need help securing a job, you qualify for the program.
Employers, training providers and community organisations can also register to be involved with the program on our main SQ4W webpage.
And did you know as well that free TAFE is available to under 25s?
Eligible Queenslanders can choose from 26 priority cert III qualifications, fully subsidised by our government.
Gaining real-world skills gives you the biggest chance of securing the job you want, and through initiatives like this we’re helping more Queenslanders reach their career goals.
