The crowds have been down due to social distancing restrictions, and the season has been one like no other.
But nothing has stopped the banter between diehard fans and clients of Lutheran Services’ Keystone Centre in Logan.
They’ve created their very own footy show, and the first special guest was Scott Prince.
Prince joined Scotty H, Terry and Michael for their final podcast of the season, but managed to help make a dream come true for the dedicated hosts.
The podcast crew is made up of young locals living with varying disabilities and their carers. After reaching out to the Broncos, Prince made an appearance, and completed a special moment for the team.
Lutheran Services Community Services Manager, Dianne Goddard said the show began as a way to continue the crew’s obsession with footy.
“The clients and staff at Keystone are extremely passionate – we have a footy tipping contest and always talk about each team and player’s performance,” she said.
“It was only natural that one of the staff members and three of our clients teamed up to speak about their passion on camera. We are looking to buy some more equipment and next year, we’ll continue the show, maybe even tackle some other sports in the off-season.”
Ms Goddard said Prince was a gracious and generous guest, and more episodes would soon be on Youtube.
“Creating moments like these truly make a difference and the joy they get out of it is incredibly rewarding,” she said.
The crew asked Prince his favourite food, music and TV show. He also revealed which NRL club he enjoyed playing for most. Answers are on the team’s Youtube channel.
The Woodridge-based Keystone Centre is a true community hub, offering support programs to young people living with varying levels of disability.
At Keystone, people come together to set personal goals and work together to enjoy engagement and activities, while learning and reaching milestones no matter how big or small.
