Mobility access addressed in mall facelift

Springwood Mall’s new facelift is focusing heavily on better access for people with mobility challenges, thanks to the addition of travelators, a lift and a 70% increase to its disabled parking spaces.

The centre’s current internal concrete ramp near Woolworths will be demolished and replaced with state-of-the-art travelators, while a new lift near the Ridge Jewellers/NAB entry will take shoppers from the undercover car park to the ground floor, and up to commercial offices on a new first level.

There will be 17 disabled car parks, undercover and on the ground level near the new lift and travelator lobby.

“We are really looking forward to offering a much more accessible and convenient Springwood Mall once our redevelopment is complete next year, especially for the many customers who require assistance with their mobility when they come to shop with us,” marketing manager Donna O’Neill said.

“In addition to the centre’s mechanical additions that will assist our customers during their visit, we will also add a new ‘direct to boot’ facility at the front of Woolworths that will make the collection of online shopping from Woolworths Springwood Mall one of the most accessible and advanced in the country.

“Springwood Mall will be fantastic when it is complete, and be ready to welcome customers in a modern, convenient environment for many years to come.”

Target, Woolworths and all retailers at Springwood Mall continue to trade as normal. Customer car parking is available in the undercroft car park directly underneath Woolworths or in the external car park outside of Target.
