Film festival puts underdogs on the big screen

Emerging Australian filmmakers will take over Kingston Butter Factory for two days of screenings, workshops and industry events on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September.

The Underdog Film Fest program includes five short-film sessions, filmmaker question-and-answer panels, networking opportunities and workshops covering cinematography, directing, screenwriting and acting.

Saturday screenings run from 11am–1pm, 4–6pm and 7–9pm, with Sunday sessions from 12.30–2.30pm and 3–5pm.

A free awards ceremony begins at 6pm on Sunday.

Screenings cost $11 each or $50 for a season pass, while workshops range from free to $30.

Youth acting sessions are available for ages eight to 17.

All films will include closed captions.

Films are unclassified and some contain coarse language or mature themes, so families should check individual sessions.

Program and bookings are available through Underdog Film Fest website.
