School holidays can be busy enough without the stress of booking and managing kids’ activities. With public spaces free and open all day, kids can run, climb and explore without much planning at all. Here are a few of our favourites
Flagstone Adventure Playground and Water Play Park, Flagstonian Drive, Flagstone
Flagstone Adventure Park offers a big day out with its climbing towers, long slides and flying foxes. The water play area comes in handy on warm days and the skate park next door gives older children space for scooters, skateboards or bikes.
Spring Mountain Forest Park, 50 Warbler Court, Greenbank
For a quieter day out, Spring Mountain Forest Park in Greenbank is an easy option. There are short walking tracks to suit younger children, as well as longer trails for kids who need to burn off some energy. Wildlife spotting opportunities are endless, with wallabies, native birds and even the occasional lizard found along the edges of the trail.
Demeio Park, 116-131 Demeio Road, Marsden
Demeio Park offers a mix of playground equipment, open grass and shaded seats, with climbing frames and swings for children. The park also features the Transurban cycle link, offering little ones a safe place to practise riding before they move onto local roads. The link includes line markings, road signs and a small roundabout. It also features miniature versions of Brisbane landmarks, including the Gateway Bridge and the Logan River red bridge.
Stoneleigh Reserve Park, Logan Reserve, 13/25 Stoneleigh Reserve Blvd, Logan Reserve
Stoneleigh Reserve Park has a relaxed, open feel that works well for slower holiday outings. The playground and picnic area sit close to the electric barbecues, making it the perfect spot for a holiday lunch with family or friends. The reserve also features a bike track for a post lunch energy break.
